1
Developmental Editing
My most vested passion in life is to help other people share their stories. I want to help to make sure that what you want to say gets said, and I want to make sure that your writing is as clear and strong as it can be with kindness and precision. Additionally, as an editor, my philosophy is to create a common language between the author and the reader. Editors exist in a unique space between the author and their readers, and making sure that the author's vision is conveyed clearly, and the readers' wants are achieved is the goal of my editorial work. I note this in order to ensure that we are on the same page about what you will be receiving from my editorial services. This is what you will receive in return for trusting me with your manuscript.
-
A comprehensive read-through and written evaluation of the work including overall and specific feedback, as well as notes and suggestions on how to make your manuscript stronger based upon your concerns.
-
Evaluation notes on how to move forward with your project
-
One-on-one conferences in person or via zoom at the beginning and end of the editorial process to discuss goals and findings.
-
Evaluation does NOT include line editing, fact checking, or copyediting services. If you are interested in these further down the line, please reach out.
I charge $30 hourly for editorial work. I request four hours of work to be paid up-front as a deposit. I anticipate spending between 20 and 40 hours on your project. This time includes a full read through and the construction of the promised additional material noted above. The balance is due at completion. Completion time is between 4-6 weeks from the date the manuscript is delivered.

Copyediting & Proofreading
Copyediting and proofreading serve as final lines of defense against errors before a project goest to publication. I have industry training on Chicago Manual of Style and AP Style Guide conventions, as well as a keen eye for mistakes. I want to help to make sure that what you want to say gets said, and I want to make sure that your writing is as clear and strong as it can be with kindness and precision. I note this in order to ensure that we are on the same page about what you will be receiving from my editorial services. This is what you will receive in return for trusting me with your manuscript.
